After we got our first real look at Black Ops 7 at Gamescom Opening Night, fans think they’ve spotted a popular map from Black Ops 4 hiding in the background.

Although Black Ops 7 is set to forge its own path with a host of new maps, there are also some old favorites coming back. We’ve already had confirmation that Hijack, Express, and Raid from BO2 will all be available in multiplayer on day one.

Now, after the official reveal took place at Gamescom, Treyarch might be teasing that another fan-favorite map from Black Ops history could appear in some way, shape, or form.

Wait, is that Gridlock in Black Ops 7?

After the trailer was shown off in Cologne, the devs released a blog packed full of new details and images from Black Ops 7. Among them was an image of the new Rhino Scorestreak, but as one Reddit user pointed out, it looks like the robotic suit is standing in the ruins of Gridlock from Black Ops 4.

In the background, you can see the green roof that looks remarkably similar to the temple, and the sheer destruction on display fits with the map’s setting of a destroyed Japanese city.

The only downside to this theory is that the names of the maps in BO7 have already been revealed, and Gridlock is nowhere to be found.

But we all know that the launch lineup is only the beginning, and that more maps will be released in future updates. So, it’s possible that we could see the iconic Black Ops 4 battleground return later down the line.

Alternatively, there’s also a chance that the devs have worked the map into a different area of the game. We already know what parts of the co-op campaign will take players to Japan, so it’s not hard to imagine that parts of Gridlock could have been incorporated into the level as an Easter egg for fans.
