A prominent Call of Duty leaker has revealed that there is “evidence” that Black Ops 7 could launch a week earlier than first thought.
Black Ops 7 is due to arrive on November 14, which is slightly later than the late-October to early November window we’ve come to expect. However, a new leak from ‘TheGhostOfHope’ suggests that players might not have to wait as long to get their hands on the game.
In an X post on October 20, they explained that they had reason to believe that the date would be moved up by a week.
“Seems like there’s some evidence of a potential release date change for Black Ops 7 where it could move up a week,” they said. “Not sure I buy it yet but would be a pleasant surprise if it happens.”
If it turns out to be true, this would point towards a November 7 release date. However, the leaker themselves isn’t 100% convinced, so take it with a pinch of salt until Activision makes an official announcement.
Since the leak was posted, fans have speculated why the devs might be eyeing up an earlier launch date. Some argued it could be to try and prize players away from Battlefield 6, which has got off to a record-breaking start since launching on October 10.
There’s also the long-awaited free-to-play battle royale, which is reportedly sometime after October 28, when Season 1 gets underway, which could only boost the game’s popularity.
However, while Activision will no doubt be aware of BF6’s success, there could be a simpler explanation. Other fans pointed out that it’s not uncommon for games to offer early access in exchange for pre-ordering a deluxe edition.
The community has also been calling for the Black Ops 7 campaign to be released early to give them time to blast through it before the multiplayer arrives, so the earlier date could relate to the single-player and co-op portion of the game.
Again, it’s worth keeping in mind that this is all just a rumor for now, and the most likely outcome is that Black Ops 7 will release on November 14 as expected.
