Black Ops 7 has added a brand-new Assault Rifle with ricochet ammo, allowing players to pull off ridiculous shots without even seeing the enemy.
The Black Ops 7 Season 2 update has arrived, bringing the return of Ranked Play and a host of new maps. As always, the new Battle Pass also includes some fresh guns for players to try out, which look set to shake up the meta in a big way.
While the REV-46 is a great SMG option, it’s the EGRT-17 that’s really caught the eye. It comes with an impressive long-range TTK that can go toe-to-toe with any other Assault Rifle, but what really makes it stand out is its ability to shoot around corners.
EGRT-17 AR set to dominate Black Ops 7 in Season 2
Yes, you read that right, the EGRT-17 comes with its own special “superheated rounds that ricochet off solid surfaces.” This means that you can actually fire at walls or even the ground, and the bullets will bounce and wound anyone they hit.
While they deal reduced damage after ricocheting, this allows you to gun down enemies without even being able to see them. Matches are already full of players spraying around corners or into rooms where teams are contesting an objective.
Particularly on Hardcore mode, where health is lower, this is a trickshotter’s dream, allowing them to pull off ridiculous plays on unsuspecting enemies.
But in regular fights, the real reason this is so strong is that it makes missing shots much more forgiving.
If you’re shooting straight, even shots that miss the target have a chance of rebounding off the wall and hitting the target in the back. The same can be said if you aim too low, as the bullets can bounce off the ground and still hit the legs, stomach, or even chest, depending on the angle.
It’s also very useful when taking more than one enemy in close proximity, as even any shots that are wide of the mark will ricochet around the room and damage multiple targets.
