Fortnite just dropped a gift for Borderlands fans, but it’s locked behind one of the most divisive stores in gaming.
Borderlands and Fortnite go way back. Their first big crossover landed in 2019 with the Fortnite x Mayhem event. It brought a full Pandora zone to the island, complete with cel-shaded graphics and shield regen. The star item was, of course, The Psycho Bandit Bundle, including the Psycho skin, Claptrap back bling, and Buzz Axes.
Players could buy it or get it free by grabbing Borderlands 3 on Epic’s store. That skin disappeared for years, only returning in April 2025 as hype for Borderlands 4 built. It’s still rare, still popular, and only available in bundles.
Now Fortnite’s adding Moxxi to the mix. The Mad Moxxi skin bundle is coming to the Item Shop on September 29, but, if you preorder Borderlands 4 on the Epic Games Store, you can get it way earlier. And for free.
How to get the Moxxi skin free in Fortnite
You can unlock the Moxxi Bundle right now by preordering Borderlands 4 on Epic. Just make sure your Fortnite and Epic accounts are linked.
The early access ends September 12, 2025, so don’t sleep on it. If you buy the game elsewhere, you’re out of luck. No Epic, no Moxxi.
The bundle includes:
- Mad Moxxi outfit
- Moxxi’s Tip Jar back bling
- Underdome Megaphone pickaxe
- Possibly more, like a themed emote
If you refund the game, you can say goodbye to the skin.
Borderlands 4 drops September 12 and promises a bigger world, seamless zones, and wild new characters like Vex and Rafa. It’s shaping up to be the most ambitious entry yet.
But not without drama. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has been loud, firing up fans and critics alike with takes on monetization, past games, and fan feedback.
Still, hype’s building, and Epic knows how to work that hype.
