Danish brewing giant Carlsberg has unveiled the world’s tiniest beer, and it’s so small you’ll need a microscope to admire it.
The brew, made in collaboration with RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Glass Component, and miniature artist Åsa Strand, measures just 12 millimeters. It holds a single drop of non-alcoholic beer, roughly 0.005 centilitres, but it’s not like you’d be getting drunk on it anyway.
“Even though it is small as a grain of rice and filled with a drop of beer, it symbolizes something we have long cared about: the importance of drinking responsibly,” Carlsberg said.
The beer was brewed at Carlsberg’s experimental brewery in Falkenberg, Sweden, to pack a punch of flavor despite its tiny volume. The beer has already turned heads online, with Outkick humorously calling it the “most useless thing ever.”
You can win $1,000 by making an even smaller beer
To prove the stunt is real, Carlsberg stressed the photos aren’t AI-generated and is now challenging university students to make an even smaller beer.
The company has teamed up with the Student Union of the School of Engineering to host the competition. The winner will take home 10,000 SEK (around $1,000 USD) and earn a visit to Carlsberg’s research lab in Copenhagen.
While the mini brew is clearly symbolic, it’s already turning heads online and probably making regular beer fans laugh at its size.
