A bride has been going viral on TikTok for her alleged “frugal” way of getting flowers for her wedding – hitting up a McDonald’s parking lot.
Organizing a wedding is not only very stressful, but it can come at a pretty massive cost. There is everything from venue hire, to catering, to music, and travel costs – and that’s before you even factor in buying rings, wedding dresses, and suits.
As a result of the sky-high costs, plenty of couples have been taking more frugal routes for their big day. Many have gone without massive venues, started buying second-hand wedding dresses, and even made invitations themselves.
When it comes to flowers, though, that’s typically a big expense that you can’t avoid – no matter how smart you try to be with a budget.
Frugal bride allegedly uses McDonald’s for wedding flowers
However, TikToker Olivia Schlottach has been going viral for allegedly taking her wedding flowers from a McDonald’s restaurant. Seriously.
In Olivia’s video, which has racked up around 600,000 views to date, she can be seen heading to a McDonald’s with a pair of secaturs and a bucket. While there is no clip of her pruning the flowers, the next photo in the video shows the bucket being filled, before cutting to the floral arrangements at her big day.
“Ballin’ on a McBudget,” Olivia captioned the clip, while also adding hashtags for budget wedding hacks and ideas.
The clip has landed in front of other brides who are pretty supportive of the idea. “It’s healthy for bushes and trees and to be pruned anyways. You’re doing them a service,” one said. “I got all my landscaping rocks from Target’s parking lot,” another joked.
Some viewers suggested it could be “illegal” depending on the state they’re in. “Apparently, it’s not illegal in Nashville. People clip hydrangeas out in the open,” another chimed in.
