A new leak about Call of Duty 2026 has revealed some major details about the campaign’s plot and what kind of aesthetic to expect.

As Black Ops 6 moves towards the end of its lifecycle, attention is starting to turn to the future of the Call of Duty franchise. COD 2025 is widely expected to be Black Ops 7, with leaks claiming that it’ll be a sequel to BO2 and feature remasters of that game’s classic maps.

But beyond that, based on the series’ usual three-year development cycle, Infinity Ward are set to return with another Modern Warfare game.

Now, a new leak has emerged that reveals some early details of what to expect in Call of Duty 2026, including some major plot details.

COD 2026 leak reveals major plot details

Trusted COD leaker ‘TheGhostOfHope’ shared a post on June 4, revealing that Call of Duty 2026 is “currently titled Modern Warfare 사” — or Modern Warfare 4.

The symbol at the end of the title is the word “four” in Korean, which is fitting since both South and North Korea are set to play a major role in the game’s campaign, alongside returning antagonist Vladimir Makarov from Modern Warfare 3 (2023).

Describing the plot, the leaker said: “141/SAS/Republic of Korea are the 3 major factions you play as to take down Makarov and Konni Group who are doing false flags to start a 3rd World War.”

It’s unclear from this if we’ll actually visit parts of South or North Korea during the campaign, or whether we’ll simply come across their forces in different parts of the globe.

On top of the plot details, the Ghost of Hope also gave some insight into what the overall vibe of Modern Warfare 4 will be. They explained that it’s “currently planned to feature quite a few futuristic things but will stay mostly modern in its era.”

So, while there will likely be some advanced gadgets and weaponry at our disposal, it won’t be quite as far-fetched as games like Advanced or Infinite Warfare.
