Twitch star CaseOh hit back at some of his subscribers who complained after he paused his game during key moments because non-subs were stuck on ads.

Getting an advert during a key part of a stream or video can be pretty annoying as you may miss a big moment – especially if a streamer is playing a story-based game.

Some streamers have dedicated ad breaks too, typically at the top of the hour, just so everyone knows what the stream is going to be disrupted by a commercial. When it comes to Twitch, there are a few ways to cut out ad breaks. You can subscribe to a particular channel or use Twitch Turbo. Though, not everyone is going to shell out to do so.

Streaming star CaseOh sparked debate between Twitch viewers when he decided to pause his game during a pivotal moment in the story, just because non-subs were watching ads.

Case initially ran a poll for his viewers, asking if he should wait for the ads to conclude, which split his chat. Even though the ‘yes’ option to wait won the poll, some viewers continued to complain about the pause.

“Put yourself in that position, would you want us to wait for you?” he asked paying subscribers. “It’s one minute, dude! They don’t get to sit here and have this conversation like we do. I do this like once or twice a week, chat, stop crying!”

As one viewer even threatened to cancel their subscription to his channel, CaseOh dared him to follow through on that.

“Unsub right here before our very eyes, Danny. Do it, do it now,” he said. “Guess what, now you’re going to be getting hit with ads and you’re gonna want me to wait because you’re not subbed no more!

“It’s only $8 a month? You can’t be mad at somebody for not spending an extra $8 a month in this economy. Out of everything, $8 is a lot, bruh. If you ain’t got it, you ain’t got it. Not everybody got $8 a month. If you got it like that, gift 10 people who ain’t got a sub a sub then!”

The moment sparked a wider debate on social media, too, with one account getting over 3.5 million views on the clip. Yet, most viewers praised the streamer’s choice to pause.

“CaseOh is probably one of the few streamers that actually know what it’s like for normal ppl,” one said. “Wish content creators taking a short content pause during ad breaks was more normalized on Twitch,” another said.
