A cat has been banned from a school’s campus after spending months wandering into classrooms, and even allegedly setting off an alarm.
Plenty of offices now have an office pet. Someone will usually bring their dog or cat for a few days during the week, and it helps lift the spirits of everyone else they work with. However, there are some cases where the guests are uninvited.
That’s been the case in Glasgow, Scotland, at Clyde College’s Cardonald campus, with a ginger tabby cat roaming the hallways without invitation. The cat, who has been named as Rebel by staff and students, had become a familiar face for people in the building.
However, as of February 26, the cat’s presence has been banned, with students and staff urged to “don’t feed him or encourage him to loiter” around the building.
Cat banned after months of walking into classes
As per STV, the cat has wandered into classrooms at times, and been accused of setting off the college’s security system on at least one occasion.
“We’re really proud that all our campuses are inviting, friendly spaces – but sadly we can’t extend that welcome to cats inside college buildings,” a spokesperson for the college told STV.
They also noted that some students would like a hut built for the cat near the school buildings, allowing them to still see him.
Rebel isn’t the only animal to go viral over the last few weeks, nor is it the first viral cat in Scotland. At the end of January, a Scottish rail employee adopted a cat that she found after it was abandoned on a train.
People have also been lining up to adopt a cat named Dobby, who has four ears and an underbite. The seven-month-old kitten has been featured on American television, sparking a raft of would-be adopters.
