Dobby the four-eared kitten is going viral for his unique appearance, which is good for him, since he’s up for adoption at an Alabama animal shelter.

‘Dobby’ is an appropriate name for this adorably abnormal kitty, who boasts two pairs of ears, a severe underbite, and a short, curled tail as the result of a genetic mutation.

Named after the Harry Potter elf, the seven-month-old kitten is melting hearts all across social media and was even featured on People, where his foster mom, Stephanie Brown, opened up about his condition.

Brown says he was put up for adoption by his previous owner, who couldn’t get their senior cat to get along with him.

He’s currently awaiting dental surgery for his underbite, which is causing his lower teeth to puncture the roof of his mouth. Rather than resetting his jaw, veterinarians will simply shorten the length of his lower canines.

The surgery will take place on April 20, 2026, and is an outpatient procedure, meaning he’ll go back home with Brown the same day. However, since he’ll need to recover and adjust, Brown is asking potential adopters to put their applications on hold until further notice.

There’s been no shortage of interest in little Dobby, though, with Brown saying, “we don’t think we’ll have any difficulty finding him that [forever] home.”

She told People that Dobby gets along well with children and is seeking a family with young kids for his permanent placement.

“I think it’s a matter of embracing all of those differences and understanding, just like people, every creature, every animal, is going to have their own unique personality, presentation, conditions, appearance, everything like that,” she told the outlet.

Brown is a board member of the Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue based in Hoover, Alabama, where Dobby’s profile will be listed for adoption once his surgery is completed.
