Mage Arena is turning heads on Steam for one simple reason – it lets players cast spells by literally shouting them into their microphones.

Developed by solo creator jrsjams, Mage Arena launched in Early Access on July 24, 2025, and has quickly become a hit with fans. The game currently holds an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating on Steam, with over 2,000 reviews, and has reached more than 13,000 players as of July 29.

Just like Eyes Never Wake, which lets the monster see you through your webcam, Mage Arena has a unique twist to its magical combat. The game combines traditional PvP arena combat with real-time voice recognition, allowing armchair wizards to cast spells like Fireball, Freeze, and Magic Missile.

Of course, only correct pronunciation of each spell will lead to your Hogwarts wannabe casting their spell, so remember, it’s leviOsa, not levioSA!

Matches support both 1v1 and 4v4 modes, with players split between Sorcerers and Warlocks. Once teams have been selected, players will be whisked away to a procedurally generated world, where they must infiltrate the enemy base and claim their flag.

Once a flag is taken, that team’s players can no longer respawn, turning the match into a sudden-death battle for survival. From here, you’ll need to carefully eliminate the remaining enemies to net yourself a dominant win.

Just don’t jumble up your spells, as you’ll be handing in your Hogwarts acceptance letter faster than a Harry whizzing around on his Nimbus 2000.
