Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has been banned from the Counter-Strike competitive platform FACEIT for one month after being penalized for toxic behavior during a match.

The suspension was apparently issued following an in-game dispute with Polish players in Counter-Strike 2. Screenshots from the match show Mudryk sending messages in chat, including “U SO BAD,” “lucky volyn,” and “volyn next map.”

The term “Volyn” is a reference to the Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia during World War II, a subject widely regarded as highly sensitive. FACEIT classed the messages as a breach of its code of conduct and issued a one-month ban for toxicity.

FACEIT operates a strict moderation system for Counter-Strike’s ranked ecosystem, with penalties ranging from temporary cooldowns to extended bans depending on severity and context.

Toxicity bans include, but are not limited to, the following offenses:

  • Harassment / Toxicity / Encouraging Self-Harm / Spamming
  • Offensive Content (e.g. a nickname / profile picture / cover photo that can be considered toxic or otherwise offensive)
  • Griefing / Ghosting / Blocking / Team Flashing / Intentional Team Damage
  • Abuse of ticket/reporting system / Abuse of Live Admins / Support / frequently providing manifestly Illegal Content (a.k.a. content that is against our FACEIT Content Standards and/or infringes applicable laws)

Mudryk is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for Chelsea FC and the Ukraine national team. He joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 and is known for his pace and technical ability.

In December 2024, he tested positive for doping and is currently serving a provisional ban from all football matches.

At the time of writing, Mudryk has not publicly commented on the FACEIT ban. The suspension applies only to FACEIT’s competitive platform, so he is still free to play CS2 on Valve’s servers.
