Tang Feiji, a Chinese content creator, died at age 55 after crashing his lightweight aircraft during a livestreamed flight on September 27, according to multiple local outlets.

Feiji, who had around 100,000 followers on the Chinese social media platform Douyin, was livestreaming when he lost control of the ultralight aircraft. China News Service (CNS) and Cover News reported that hundreds of viewers were watching the broadcast as the crash occurred.

Videos shared on social media showed Feiji taking off, flying briefly, and then suddenly plunging to the ground before the vehicle burst into flames. Cover News reported that authorities confirmed the crash caused no other damage in the area.

Details about the aircraft

In earlier videos, Feiji said he purchased the single-seat vehicle for 350,000 Chinese Yuan (about $49,000 USD). He described the aircraft as weighing just over 250 pounds, capable of reaching nearly 2,000 feet in altitude and speeds over 60 miles per hour, according to CNS.

Feiji also claimed he had mastered the controls after just six hours of practice. His social media accounts were set to private after the incident.
