Chris Hemsworth has been in the Jame Bond conversation ever since Daniel Craig hung up his tuxedo, and while the Thor star isn’t sure he wants the role, he’s told us his pick for the next 007.

Chris Hemsworth has already played one iconic character, brining Thor to life in multiple standalone movies, as well as the Avengers adventures.

He’s also voiced Optimus Prime, briefly played Captain Kirk’s father, and been a Man in Black and a Mad Max villain.

Next he’ll be seen in a thriller called Crime 101, which co-stars Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, and Berry Keoghan, and hits screens on February 13, 2026. We had a brief chat with Hemsworth about that movie, during which we put the James Bond question to him…

Chris Hemsworth thinks Jacob Elordi should be the next Bond

During the Crime 101 junket, Dexerto’s Jacqui Faiman had the cast responding to YouTube comments under the film’s trailer, one of which said: “This proves what I’ve always known. Hemsworth should play James Bond.”

Chris responds to that message 20 seconds into the above video with laughter, then immediately states: “I’m too old – I’m 42!”

But his co-stars aren’t so sure, with Halle Berry saying: “You don’t look 42. You’re gorgeous.” And Mark Ruffalo adding: “You can’t age out… Roger Moore was like 70 when he did the last one!”

Hemsworth is then asked point-blank if he wants the role, thinks about it for around 10 seconds, then responds: “Yeah, I’d be curious about it, but I think there’s some better options out there. I think Jacob Elordi should do it. I think he has a cool swagger to him.”

Elordi is one of the hottest actors on the planet right now. He first made a name for himself in The Kissing Booth movies, before playing the monstrous Nate Jacobs in Euphoria.

Elordi was Elvis in Priscilla, Felix in Saltburn, and has just received an Academy Award nomination for his work as The Creature in Frankenstein. While the actor will next be seen as Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights.

Elordi has also been in the Bond conversation for the last few years, as he has the face, the height, and the talent, while Hemsworth is looking out for one of his own, as both actors hail from Australia.

And if he does get his wish, Elordi wouldn’t be the first Aussie to play James Bond, as George Lazenby was 007 in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, though following a negative response from both critics and fans, Lazenby was one-and-done.
