Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took over when it released back in April, landing a win as GOTY, and practically sweeping the floor at The Game Awards. However, that doesn’t mean any future content is guaranteed following its surprise update.
Despite the huge success Clair Obscur proved to be, future content and expansions are never promised, though they are extremely common when a game takes off. After all, a game like Dispatch, which garnered a huge following during its release, is already looking at a potential season 2 after fans called for more.
Then, on the other side, we have games like Baldur’s Gate 3, which, instead of releasing a new location or DLC, added major updates and released the ability to mod the game, allowing those expansions to be fan-made instead. So, naturally, Expedition 33 fans have been wondering whether more is coming to Lumiere. Well, the director has revealed all.
Expedition 33 director speaks out on future content
As revealed in a Future newsletter, Expedition 33 director, Guillaume Broche, revealed that any future content or expansions are “not tempting” for the team, meaning it’s unlikely we’ll see any new expansions coming to the game in the coming years.
“We could scale up now that we have a lot more money, but I would say it’s not tempting for us, because even the management team and myself, we’d have to be hands-on and do things for ourselves. We love making games more than we love managing, so we want to keep doing that. These past five years were some of the best of my life, and I want to be happy like that again,” explained Broche.
