The classic Rockstar title Bully has been resurrected, not by the developers themselves, but by fans in the community who have made a new online mode.
It’s been two decades since ‘Canis Canem Edit’, or Bully, hit store shelves. The one-off game from acclaimed GTA devs dropped players not into a life of organized crime, but into a boarding school. Your goal as teenage student Jimmy Hopkins was to break up the cliques and put a stop to bullying while making sure your grades didn’t slip.
Although it was a one-off, fans have been clamoring for more ever since. Even as recently as last month, Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser chimed in on the series, explaining why a full-fledged sequel never saw the light of day under his watch.
As Rockstar goes from one mega-blockbuster to another, with GTA 6 just around the corner, fans have now taken it upon themselves to revive their personal favorite open-world experience. Bully is set to be playable online thanks to a new mode built by those in the community.
Bully Online mod brings a new experience to Rockstar’s classic game
The Bully Online mod comes from a group of fans led by YouTuber ‘SWEGTA,’ best known for his love of the game. Announced on October 27, 2025, the mod will be available to supporters first, starting this December, before a public release in 2026.
All the expected gameplay features are there for Bully fans to take part in, be it boxing or racing go-karts through the city streets. But the mod also opens the door for a unique role-playing experience we’ve not quite seen before.
Much like GTA RP, this mod lets you live out your life in the streets of New England. You can take on jobs, earn money, and eventually purchase property in the open world if you so choose. With a fleshed-out inventory system to boot, you can take items with you on the go and be prepared for any kind of hassle from local students or thugs.
It’s all being put together by a “small team of passionate fans,” as SWEGTA explained. Together, they’ve been working in the background for a “very long time” to get this out the door.
“A lot of the things we thought were impossible just a few years ago can now be done,” the YouTuber said.
