Classic Warzone AR will take over meta after big buff in Season 2

One of Call of Duty’s most beloved weapons is set to dominate the Warzone meta going forward, after being given a huge buff in the Season 2 patch.

Warzone Season 2 is yet another huge update for the game, bringing new guns like the REV-46 SMG, as well as a winter version of Rebirth Island that completely changes how the map plays. But on top of all this new content, it also brought some major balancing changes.

The big loser was the M15 Mod 0, which was the undisputed king of long-range fights in Season 1. This popular Assault Rifle was handed a big damage range nerf, leaving it much weaker than it was before.

If this has left you wondering what to run in matches going forward, don’t worry, the fan-favorite Maddox RFB is primed to take its place.

Maddox RFB is the meta Assault Rifle in Warzone Season 2

The Maddox was already a fast-killing AR in Warzone, and although Season 2 didn’t touch its damage, its accuracy was improved significantly.

Its recoil deviation was reduced by 10%, while both vertical and horizontal recoil were decreased by 5% each. It also got a healthy boost in bullet velocity, going from 870m/s to 910m/s.

While none of this sounds too groundbreaking on paper, the result is a drastic improvement to a gun that already hits hard.

When comparing its TTK to the other meta Assault Rifles, the Maddox easily stands out. Using the CODMunity stats tool, we found that it has a TTK of just 609ms up to 41 meters, which even heavyweights like the AK-27 can’t match.

That being said, it does fall off slightly in its middle damage range, allowing the likes of the AK and the Peacekeeper MK1 to get the better of it between 41 and 59 meters. However, it’s still more than competitive, and the majority of your fights will take place roughly between 20 and 40 meters anyway.

Plus, crucially, the Maddox is comfortably the easiest to use out of its rivals, meaning you can land your shots consistently and achieve its best TTK more often.
