Some Call of Duty players are begging Activision not to add a Jake Paul operator skin after a new Black Ops 7 ad featured the influencer-turned-boxer.
On October 24, Activision dropped a new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 starring Peter Stormare’s iconic character, The Replacer. This time, The Replacer set off on a space flight to Mars with a crew of celebrities, including Jake Paul and Love Island’s Huda Mustafa.
The ad, which also features Terry Crews and Nikki Glaser, pokes fun at Amazon head honcho Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket journey, which sent the likes of Katy Perry into space.
CoD followed up the trailer by tweeting an image of a constellation of Jake Paul with the caption, “Rumor has it Jake Paul’s still out there… somewhere. The vacuum of space just got a new star. We’re calling it ‘JP-7.’
This ad isn’t going over well, though. In fact, CoD players are worried that Jake Paul and other celebrities are going to be added as operator skins, despite the devs wanting to scale back ‘inauthentic’ cosmetics by not letting BO6 skins carry over.
CoD players hit out at Jake Paul Black Ops 7 ad
Right as the trailer went live, fans began pushing back against including Jake Paul, fearing that he would come to the game in some capacity, and some are threatening refunds.
“Wasn’t y’all just pushing the grounded sh*t to push BO7?” one wrote. “If this what y’all doing now, bring back carry forward while y’all at it .”
“Pls don’t tell me he’s gonna be an operator, I’ll refund my game,” commented another.
“Can you keep him out there? I pre-ordered this game. I really don’t want Jake Paul in it.”
“Jake Paul. Yeah, if he becomes an actual skin, I’m dropping the game.”
So far, there’s no indication that Jake Paul will be included in Call of Duty, but if he was, this wouldn’t be the first time the boxer has been featured in a video game.
In 2023, ‘The Problem Child’ was added to the mobile game Rush Royale as an unlockable hero character.
A year later, he gave boxing fans the chance to knock him out by joining the roster of Undisputed as a DLC fighter.
Only time will tell what Call of Duty has in store for Black Ops 7, especially with collabs being so controversial in past years.
