CoD players worried as Black Ops 7’s week of Zombies reveals quietly scrapped

After Black Ops 7‘s official reveal at Gamescom, the live version of the COD Pod podcast said a week of Zombies reveals would be coming in early September. But that no longer appears to be the case, as they’ve reuploaded the podcast, removing any mention.

The reveal focused on the new co-op campaign while touching on some of the multiplayer and Zombies elements. In the original broadcast, they said, “We only got a teeny tiny little taste of what is coming to Zombies and Black Ops 7 because the dedicated Zombies reveal is just a few weeks away.”

Stephanie Snowden, Senior Director of Communications, said, “There’s a lot to give, it needs its own… We had to make a Zombies week out of it basically.”

However, as spotted by Zombies news X/Twitter account ‘MargwaNetwork,’ the podcast (timestamp of 9:21) was reuploaded on August 26 (a week later), and this section has been removed.

Now, it cuts off immediately after “We only got a teeny tiny little taste of what is coming to Zombies and Black Ops 7,” and moves on to the crew.

The COD Pod wasn’t the only place this was mentioned, as at the time of writing, the PlayStation blog still says, “Zombies fans should look ahead for more details in early September.” Call of Duty also still have a tweet saying “Our official Zombies reveal isn’t for a few weeks” from August 19.

This has players worried that the reveal has been scrapped to avoid any more backlash. In a post on the CODZombies subreddit, players are taking this as a sign that the mode won’t live up to expectations. “So the chances have increased for Zombies in BO7 being absolute slop then?” asked one player.

“If they’re not confident enough to release any marketing, and they edited the portion where they claimed they’d have all of this special stuff for zombies, there is ABSOLUTELY an increased chance that the game will be worse than initially anticipated,” said another.
