Cosplayer helps blind Street Fighter pro ‘see’ character for the first time

A Street Fighter 6 cosplayer helped a blind competitor envision one of the game’s characters for the very first time in a heartwarming interaction.

BlindWarriorSven is a competitive Street Fighter player who is totally blind. Despite his disability, Sven has proven his mettle over and over, using sound cues from the game to defeat his opponents.

Sven lost his eyesight at six years old due to cancer, but that didn’t stop him from playing video games. In fact, he realized that he could use sounds to play, and quickly fell in love with the Street Fighter franchise.

Thanks to Street Fighter 6‘s accessibility improvements, Sven is able to hear where players are in relation to his character and even react to attacks and dodges, which are signaled with unique noises.

While Sven is very familiar with playing against characters within the Street Fighter franchise, actually envisioning them is another story — that is, until he ran into ‘Crisuki’ at Evo 2025, the world’s largest fighting game tournament.

Cosplayer helps blind Street Fighter 6 pro ‘see’ JP for first time

Crisuki was cosplaying as JP, the ‘villain’ of the game who specializes in ‘bartitsu,’ a combat style that utilizes a cane. He’s a fancy-schmancy gent with a penchant for fashionable attire, using his cane to ‘whip’ opponents into submission.

After coming across Crisuki at the tournament, Sven asked him if he could touch the cane the cosplayer had made to see how it felt in comparison to the one he uses to help him get around.

“I was simply going to ask for a picture when Sven asked me, ‘JP has a cane, right?’ To which I responded, ‘Yes, but it’s more flashy than it is used for walking,'” Crisuki told us in an exclusive statement.

“Sven said, ‘Yeah, I have a stick too. I was wondering – can I see what JP’s cane feels like?,’ to which I responded, ‘ABSOLUTELY!’ I let him get a feel for it, and showed [him] which part JP holds the cane by (which is the swirly white part in the middle). He even asked what color the staff was!”

Crisuki let Sven feel the chain and emblem that JP wears around his chest, as well, before the two posed for a photo and went their separate ways — but for Crisuki, the fact that his costume was able to help Sven ‘envision’ JP for the first time was something incredibly special.

“Giving Sven the opportunity to help envision what JP’s staff and attire looks like through a sense of touch made me feel a different form of joy I can’t exactly put into words,” he wrote on X. “100% my favourite moment at EVO 2025.”
