Counter-Strike players have been getting VAC-banned at random following a brand-new CS2 update, The Fourth Season.

There are a few different bans that can occur on Steam and in Counter-Strike, especially. These will see you suspended from the game for a few days, with cooldowns from queuing for games a regular occurrence if you quit early.

However, getting a VAC ban on your account is a death sentence. A VAC ban usually means that you’ve been suspected of cheating in some form, and they are only ever overturned in very rare cases.

You can, of course, make a new account to get around the VAC ban, but, with so much history on one profile, it’s not something that players want to do.

Following CS2’s new Fourth Season update, these heavy-handed bans have become a little more regular, with players reporting that they’re being struck down out of the blue.

“Just got VAC banned after the new update, $12k inventory, never cheated, I don’t understand why what the f**k,” one player posted on social media.

“Was playing wingman and some dude shot me and we both got vac-banned at the same time,” another said. “7k hours, 1k+ inventory. Just got false vac banned while bottom fragging on Inferno lol… Never touched a cheat in my f**king life. This is a joke,” another replied.

Some players have reported having no issues through a set of games, but have then been banned midway through another set. There doesn’t appear to be any rhyme or reason to it, with players suffering the bans across all parts of matchmaking.

“Everyone and their nana got vac banned, now I’m kinda scared to log in,” another player added. “Literally my first match, the game ended 6-3, and our two bottom fraggers got VAC banned, and the entire enemy team got banned,” another commented.

“Finally, Valve is banning thousands of accounts. Too bad it’s not the cheaters,” another joked.

As it stands, Valve has not responded to the wave of bans, nor have they overturned any just yet.
