Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is about to be unleashed in US cinemas, and early forecasts suggest it’s going to break box office records.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is the eagerly anticipated first movie in a trilogy detailing the dramatic conclusion to the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series.
The plot sees Tanjiro Kamado joining the Demon Slayer Corps when his family is killed by one such monster, but his mission to wipe them out is complicated by the fact that his sister was turned into a demon during the same attack.
Zach Aguilar reprises his role as Tanjiro, while Channing Tatum has joined the voice cast of the American dub as new character Keizo. And it looks the like the anime is going to be a major hit in the US.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle set to beat Pokemon’s box office record
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle looks set to post a huge number at the US box office this weekend. Distributor Sony is forecasting on the low side, predicting $35 million from the film’s 3,300 screens.
But according to Deadline, industry analysts believe the number could be much higher, and fall somewhere between $45 million and $60 million.
The total will be buoyed by more expensive Imax and ‘Premium Large Format’ screenings, while Infinity Castle is also previewing in 2,800 theaters from 4pm this evening (Thursday 11).
But even if the Demon Slayer movie ends up on the low side of those projections, it will still eclipse the record for biggest anime debut ever in the US, held by Pokemon: The First Movie, which opened to $31 million way back in 1999.
It’s already a box office juggernaut internationally, with the film’s worldwide total currently sitting at $273 million, making it the 14th biggest movie of 2025, so far.
