Destiny 2’s massive pool of meta-viable weapons in The Edge of Fate makes it all too easy to overlook some of the best weapons the game currently has to offer, including Unwavering Duty.
First introduced all the way back in Season 19, Unwavering Duty received a much-needed refresh in The Edge of Fate. Bungie has seen fit to give the Machine Gun an excellent perk pool in Season 27, fit for both PvE and PvP.
With Solar builds running absolutely rampant right now, thanks to several buffs as well as support from the current Artifact, Unwavering Duty’s synergistic perks make it adept at melting monsters and Guardians alike with the right rolls.
Here’s what you should be on the lookout for while farming the gun from Trials of Osiris.
Unwavering Duty PvE & PvP god roll – Meta analysis
Covering PvE first, you’ve got a couple of options worth pursuing. The first and most obvious is the combination of Incandescent and Burning Ambition. While this may seem like overkill, the ability to inflict Scorch both on kill and via sustained damage, respectively, makes Unwavering Duty viable for add-clear and single-target DPS.
If, on the other hand, you’ve already got a preferred heavy for chunky targets like Champions and bosses and are solely in the market for an add-clear machine, swapping Burning Ambition out for Killing Tally is the play.
For all remaining perks, you’ll want to prioritize Flared Magwell and a Reload Speed Masterwork, as, sadly, Unwavering Duty doesn’t get access Reconstruction’s auto-reloads.
In the realms of PvP, Dynamic Sway Reduction and Tap The Trigger are an absolute must to boost Unwavering Duty’s accuracy. If playing on PC, you could try using Fourth Time’s the Charm for free ammo on precision hits, but this will be extremely unreliable with a gamepad on console.
Regardless of your choice, any perks that boost range, including Ricochet Rounds and the respective Masterwork, should be a universal priority, no matter the platform.
