Paramount has officially greenlit Dexter: Resurrection Season 2, but fans all have one major complaint about the news.
Yes, everyone’s favorite serial killer with a conscious is coming back for more thrills and kills in New York City following the positive reception to Dexter: Resurrection, and its club of murderers.
Michael C. Hall himself announced the news with a recorded video, confirming that a writers room is being assembled for the show ahead of its sophomore season, although he didn’t tease what to expect.
But while the majority of fans are happy about the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 news, they all have the same major complaint.
The Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 renewal is great news, but fans are still angry about Original Sin
Dexter: Resurrection was a hit with audiences and earned itself a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes, so it’s no surprise that Paramount has renewed the show. But that doesn’t erase the fact that fans are still angry that the network canceled Dexter: Original Sin, the prequel series.
On X, one person replied to the video from Hall saying: “Honestly we don’t care. Bring back Dexter Original Sin,” and another wrote: “Who gives a f*ck bring back Original Sin.”
A third pointed to the fact that Paramount originally renewed the prequel before walking back the decision in August, saying “Furious that Original Sin got greenlit, then cancelled.”
Others also shared a petition to renew the show, which had over 100,000 signatures at the time of writing. But for the moment, it looks like Original Sin is still dead in the water because of the Skydance-Paramount merger.
It starred Patrick Gibson as a young version of the killer at the start of his career as a blood spatter analyst with Miami Metro P.D. Dexter: Original Sin boasted an impressive cast including Christian Slater, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Patrick Dempsey.
The prequel didn’t score quite as highly, earning a 70% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but fans made it clear that they want the show to return following the Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 announcement.
