Discord appears to be gearing up for a major new Nitro perk, as a fresh asset hidden in the app suggests the company is working on its own VPN service.
On November 20, A new internal illustration named “VpnLaptopShieldBannerSpotIllustration” has surfaced in recent Discord builds and was spotted by Discord preview trackers.
The artwork shows a laptop with a shield icon, which has immediately set off speculation that Discord is preparing a built-in VPN or traffic-proxy feature for Nitro subscribers.
Discord hasn’t announced anything publicly yet, but the timing fits its recent run of experimental features. The platform has been testing new security tools, updated Safety Alerts, and even limited returns of its Clyde AI bot in a wider push to modernize the service.
