Dispatch became a massive success when it was released back in October 2025, but it missed The Game Awards’ cutoff point. Luckily, it’ll qualify for next year, though the developer has a few key worries.

Thanks to its star-studded cast, fantastic story, and episodic releases that kept players gripped, Dispatch saw huge success during its first season. Naturally, that’s led to plenty of fans calling for a second season so they can see their favorite characters again and live out the consequences of their chosen ending.

However, that’s years away, if it even happens – and the Dispatch developers, AdHoc Studios, are already worried the game will be forgotten about, despite qualifying for The Game Awards in 2026.

Dispatch will qualify for The Game Awards 2026

In an interview with Eurogamer, AdHoc’s Co-founder and COO Nick Herman explained that they’ve already “heard from Geoff [Keighley] that we qualify for next year” in relation to The Game Awards, but his main concern is “if anyone’s going to care.”

After all, when the 2026 Game Award nominations drop, it will have been around a year since Dispatch, and given how stacked 2026 looks for gaming, there’s certainly a likelihood that the successful adventure will get buried under the likes of GTA 6 and new indie games.

Interestingly, Herman also explained that Dispatch only “exists because of that show. We didn’t have a publisher when we had the trailer at The Game Awards [2024], and that was Geoff being a homie. That was him blessing us, you know. We love this show. We owe it a lot.”

Dispatch was actually nominated for Best Debut Indie in the 2025 Game Awards, but only for half the game, as Herman revealed: “We found ourselves having only delivered half the game when people were submitting [votes]. What’s wild, in a sense, is that we got nominated for Best Debut Indie from people who only played half the game, which is pretty nuts if you think about it from that perspective.”

So, given the success they saw from just half the game, it stands to reason plenty will still love it in 2026, especially with Herman joking about how he’ll keep fans interested: “We’ll drop the sex scenes the week before The Game Awards [2026] to remind people that Dispatch came out!”
