Peak has taken over the indie gaming scene with its chaotic co-op climbing adventure, pitting players against their own communication and a seemingly impossible-to-climb mountain.

Whether it’s chaotic indie games like R.E.P.O, stressful FPS titles like Call of Duty, or just more calm games like Overcooked (okay maybe not that calm), cooperation is vital when you’re playing with friends.

This is no different in Peak, which has you communicating to climb, collecting items like the Magic Bean or the Cursed Skull, and of course getting as high up as possible.

However, if you’re getting ready to dive into the popular adventure and want to try it out on console, you may be in for a bit of disappointment.

Peak crossplay

No, Peak does not have crossplay capabilities, primarily because it’s not available to play on any console, be that Switch, PlayStation, or Xbox.

Currently, it’s only available on Steam, so all PC players can play the adventure together. Luckily, the recommended requirements for Peak are pretty low by today’s standards, so even if your PC is a bit old or not your main platform, you can still give it a go.

The recommended specs are below:

  • OS: Windows 11
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 @ 3.0 GHz or AMD Ryzen 5 or equivalent
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: RTX 2060 or RX 7600xt or equivalent
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 6 GB

Will Peak get crossplay in the future? Devs speak out

Those on consoles will be even more disappointed to find out that it’s unlikely we’ll see the game coming to consoles anytime soon.

In the FAQ’s on the game’s website, it was explained by the devs that: “At the moment we’re only supporting Windows PC’s for the game, in the future we might decide to support more platforms.”

In the following question, they detail “At the moment we don’t have any plans for PEAK updates past this point,” meaning a full transfer over to console is unlikely.

That being said, Peak is reaching some pretty impressive success right now, with an extremely positive player count. As such, if the popularity sticks or increases, then the devs may just consider moving it to other platforms.
