From timely unique attacks to clever use of Zonai devices, there are all sorts of ways to gain the upper hand against Ganondorf’s forces in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, out now on Nintendo Switch 2. We’ve pulled together some key strategies for you to consider in your fight for ancient Hyrule.
You may have already made good use of Zonai devices during your battles, but did you know their elemental effects can come in useful too? Using a Hydrant in muddy areas, for example, can help you wash away enemies, while the Flame Emitter can make light work of even a huge Frost Talus. Some allies even have elemental attacks you can deploy to great effect!
As you progress, you’ll also earn Zonaite steel, a precious resource that can be used at the Weapons Research Base to upgrade your weapons. Unwanted weapons can also be dismantled here for additional steel. There are unique versions of the steel for each type of weapon; swords, spears and so on, and some Zonaite steel also come with unique ‘seals’. Use these when upgrading your weapons for additional boons like extra damage or faster charges for your sync strikes.
Unique skill attacks can dispatch hordes of enemies in one fell swoop, but it can be beneficial to keep hold of them for an opportune moment. Bigger enemies will occasionally flash red when about to deliver a dangerous attack, but if you unleash the right unique skill during those moments, you can interrupt their offence and open up an opportunity to deal some serious damage!
Use the menu screen to set objectives for each member of your party. Simply select an ally, choose where on the map you want to send them, and off they’ll go! This is especially useful when multiple outposts are under attack. Dispatch individual heroes to each objective and quickly switch between them to make short work of the enemy forces.
The Imprisoning War, and the fight for ancient Hyrule, has only just begun. Go forth and take the fight to the Demon King in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, out now on Nintendo Switch 2!
