DoorDash has unveiled Dot, an all-electric robot built for local deliveries. Developed by DoorDash Labs, the compact vehicle can travel on bike lanes, sidewalks, driveways, and roads at speeds up to 20 mph.

Dot is rolling out first in Tempe and Mesa, Arizona, as part of an early access program before wider expansion. The robot plugs directly into DoorDash’s new Autonomous Delivery Platform, which uses AI to decide the best method for each order — whether that’s a Dasher, a robot, or a drone.

“You don’t always need a full-sized car to deliver a tube of toothpaste or pack of diapers. That’s the insight behind Dot,” said Stanley Tang, Co-Founder and Head of DoorDash Labs.

Part of a larger system

The company says Dot will handle short neighborhood trips, while Dashers continue to cover most deliveries. The Autonomous Delivery Platform acts as a dispatcher, matching orders with the fastest and most efficient option.

Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman said the launch highlights the city’s role in testing new tech. “Seeing these autonomous delivery robots on streets throughout Mesa demonstrates how these advanced technologies can meet daily needs while strengthening the local businesses at the heart of our community.”
