Minecraft star Dream is worried for the future of his gaming career after breaking his wrist helping Sapnap train for the now-cancelled Creator Clash boxing event.
In April 2025, popular YouTuber and streamer Dream agreed to spar his buddy, fellow Minecraft creator Sapnap, in a mock boxing match to help him train for Creator Clash 3.
However, Dream had no prior boxing experience and didn’t know how to properly throw a punch. Sparring footage from their training session shows Dream making wide, overhead swings that made contact with his wrist, rather than his knuckles.
The next day, Dream posted on X saying he was suffering from wrist pain as a result of the sparring session and was unable to record videos, but was hopeful the symptoms would wear off over time.
Unfortunately, they didn’t. Dream says he ignored the issue until months later when he finally saw a specialist who urged him to undergo surgery, informing him that his scaphoid bone
had been broken.
While his medical team said he would only need to wear a cast post-surgery for about a month, he’s had to continue wearing one for an additional month and a half. The healing process has been quite slow, and he’s been undergoing experimental treatment using ultrasonic waves to help speed up his recovery.
With all this in mind, the YouTuber is fearful for his future as a Minecraft creator, saying that his aim has been noticeably worse in recent videos to the point where even viewers can tell something is amiss.
Dream worried for Minecraft career as wrist injury slowly heals
He opened up about the situation in a YouTube video on November 4, explaining that he had been training for the next installation of his Minecraft Manhunt series.
“I’m really hoping that it’s fine,” he said. “It’s a couple weeks until my next appointment, and hopefully then they take the cast off.
“That’s what I’m hoping for. But there’s a big part of me that’s very scared, and knows that I’m very lucky to be in the position that I’m in, and I’m very thankful for all of you guys and all the support I’ve received over the years.
“I want to put out the best content that I can, but I need to heal my wrist, and I guess I’m worried about never being able to be as good as I used to be. I’m very confident that I will be.”
He went on to ask fans to “be patient” with him as he recovers, assuring viewers that he will “come back stronger” with even better videos once his wrist is back to normal.
