Relax, everyone, after a week-long manhunt, the Dune: Awakening player known only as Ben has finally been found.
Dune: Awakening is a survival MMO set in Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi universe, where players must battle the sandy environment and the terrifying sandworms to stay alive. But as an MMO, there are also other Arrakis dwellers to fight or work with.
It’s already developed a strong community of fans who band together to help each other get by, and nowhere is that clearer than in the recent ‘Ben saga.’
On July 21, Reddit user ‘Contrador’ shared a post letting a player they’d recently met know that their base was on the verge of running out of energy. “Ben, your guild base power is out, the big Harkonen one on the eastern shield wall. Sietch Abbir, World Deneb. Your weirdo Atreides neighbor from down the hill,” said the message.

What started out as a simple good deed from one friendly player soon devolved into a community-wide mission to stop Ben’s base from going offline. Social media soon became flooded with posts trying to get his attention.
The movement grew so big that even the developers stepped in to lend a hand. In the 1.1.17.0 patch notes, which fixed a handful of bugs and made resources easier to come by in certain areas, they left their own message that said:
“Ben, if you’re reading this, your base power is out.”
The effort wasn’t wasted either, as on July 24, the OP shared an update revealing that his power had been restored, and that they’ve since spoken with the player, who explained that he and his friends would be checking on it in the future.
Finally, Ben himself posted a short message to all of the players who were trying to track him down. “Hello everyone! Been busy getting this power on but we’re all good now base is safe,” he wrote.
This brought the week-long manhunt to a close and finally brought peace to Arrakis. Other than the killer sandworms, of course.
