The Duolingo Owl mascot has been declared as a new biological weapon by the official Resident Evil account, and now, it looks more threatening than ever.
Remember when the Duolingo Owl died? Earlier this year, the language learning company announced the passing of the iconic green bird mascot.
Well, fast-forward to now. Maybe the Owl isn’t exactly dead. All this time, it could have just been wandering the world of Resident Evil as a surprising new threat.
On August 2, 2025, the official Resident Evil Portal account shared a menacing image of the mascot in a post on X, dubbing it a new “biological weapon.”
Duolingo Owl becomes Resident Evil’s weapon
The original post included a modded Duolingo owl with a muscular body replacing the T-002 Tyrant, also known as Mr. X, in Resident Evil Remake.
As first spotted by Automaton, the translation of the post reads: “Our new biological weapon. Go. Spread language learning to the world.”
This is no doubt a hilarious nod to the popular memes regarding the Duolingo Owl. Despite looking adorable at first glance, the little critter has managed to be seen as threatening due to how it would constantly remind users to learn a new language on the app.
Because of this, there have also been plenty of evil Duolingo Owl memes all over the internet, usually involving the bird holding a Glock while it gives you a gentle reminder.
So, it’s pretty fitting to have the Owl replacing the T-002 Tyrant, especially since the latter is known to chase the player in the Raccoon City Police Department.
Following the initial post, the Duolingo Japan account replied: “Leon, you haven’t done today’s lesson, right?”. From the looks of it, the protagonist is currently trying to learn Spanish.
If seeing a buff Duolingo Owl isn’t enough, as the icing on a cake, it mentioned “I’ll chase you anywhere until everyone can play Bio in English” in a separate post.
