Battlefield 6’s most loved fan maps are disappearing, and the reason feels a little too familiar: EA doesn’t like the competition showing up on its turf.

Portal mode is Battlefield’s big swing at a space for players to build anything – rules, weapons, full-blown maps. It turned the usual shooter chaos into a creative playground that reminded people of Halo’s Forge days.

Within hours of launch, there were thousands of new worlds and over 740,000 players logged in at once. It was Battlefield’s moment, finally living up to the promise of freedom that 2042 couldn’t.

EA warning removes COD “Shipment 2019 edition” from Battlefield 6 Portal

Then came the warning, a polite, corporate slap on the wrist. “Inappropriate reference – Third party products” is how EA described one of the most popular community maps, a Battlefield 6 remake of Call of Duty’s Shipment.

The player who made it called it “Shipment 2019 edition.” A bit on the nose, maybe, but while it may seem harmless, EA decided it was not. The email told them they could still play, but any repeat of this “violation” might mean losing access to Battlefield and other EA services.

The map takedown makes sense when you look at Battlefield Community Guidelines, which tells players to “share appropriate content” and apply this rule to “usernames, server names and Experiences made in Battlefield Portal.” They forbid anything “abusive, hateful, lewd, threatening, or unlawful,” giving EA grounds to remove Portal creations that break these standards.
