EA has said they are “motivated” to bring Apex Legends to “linear media” when asked about a TV show or movie for the franchise.
Speculation about an Apex Legends TV adaptation has surfaced before. In 2022, former game director Chad Grenier said the team was “open to exploring” other media formats if the right opportunity came along.
Fans have also speculated about an animated series after the success of Apex’s cinematic trailers and Stories from the Outlands shorts, which often expand on characters’ backstories.
EA “motivated” to tell Apex Legends story
Speaking to Variety, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele said the battle royale’s universe is filled with untold stories.
“Players don’t have all the backstory, the history, and there’s just rich worlds and rich history with these characters and these Legends that can come to life through linear media and partnerships,” she explained.
“We’re pretty motivated to do that, and doing it in a way that really respects and upholds the brand and the franchise.”
The project would follow other EA franchises moving into film and TV, including a Sims movie currently being developed by Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap. EA has previously confirmed early work on a Mass Effect adaptation and has said expanding its biggest IPs across different formats is a key part of its strategy.
