ARC Raiders is set to compete against Battlefield 6 this October, and EA is blocking the name of the rival shooter, which is made by former DICE devs, in its chat.
The third-person extraction is due to arrive on October 30 on all platforms, after a successful beta playtest that got plenty of fans hyped. While not a direct competitor to BF6, since the two are going for very different types of shooters, it’s possible that they could eat into each other’s player bases.
Now, players have realized that you can’t even talk about ARC Raiders while using the EA app on PC, as it will be instantly censored.
ARC Raiders is automatically blocked in EA chat
This was discovered by Reddit user ‘WifiRouterYT,’ who shared a clip of them typing in multiple games, including Call of Duty and Fortnite, before trying to mention ARC Raiders. Once they did, the game’s name was replaced by a series of hashtags.
“Looks like somebody at EA is salty or some really weird bug with their filters,” said the OP.
This is noteworthy because Embark Studios, the team behind ARC Raiders, is made up of many former DICE employees, who worked on the Battlefield series for EA. Among the devs who made the jump were former CEO Patrick Soderlund and former chief creative officer Rob Runnesson.
All of this led many fans to speculate that EA was deliberately blocking any mention of the upcoming shooter out of some kind of feud, with some even joking that they “fear” the game’s release.
However, this is more than likely just a malfunction within the chat. As other players pointed out, you can freely type out The Finals, another Embark Studios game, without issue.
Given that the chat will automatically block out any words or phrases it thinks are offensive, the most logical answer is that it’s getting the title confused with something else. That being said, we don’t have any official confirmation either way, and it’s not clear exactly why those particular words would be censored.
