Former World’s Strongest Man Eddie Hall has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to support the family of Pa O’Dwyer following his death at the age of 40.
Hall confirmed the fundraiser on GoFundMe, saying the money will be used to help cover the cost of O’Dwyer’s memorial service and to support his family during the difficult time.
Eddie Hall explains why he started the fundraiser
In a statement shared on the GoFundMe page, Hall said he wanted to ensure O’Dwyer’s family received tangible support from the strongman community.
“He deserves to be paid back for all he has given us in this world,” Hall wrote, adding that O’Dwyer had made people laugh, think, and become better through his “bigger than life character.”
Hall also released a video, found below, on his YouTube channel where he shared his thoughts about O’Dwyer’s death.
Hall also said the funds would help cover memorial costs while easing the financial pressure on O’Dwyer’s family.
Pa O’Dwyer was a well-known and widely liked figure within the strongman world, with tributes continuing to appear online following news of his death. Hall closed his message by thanking supporters for showing what the strongman community represents “when tough times come upon us,” while offering prayers and condolences to O’Dwyer’s family.
The fundraiser remains live on GoFundMe and, as of writing, has raised over £150,000 ($200,000) of its £250,000 ($330,000) goal.
