Elden Ring Nightreign’s upcoming Patch 1.02 has been delayed due to the ongoing threat of tsunamis in Japan, where developer FromSoftware is based.
Japan has remained on high alert following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake recorded off the coast of Russia on July 29.
As a result of the adverse weather warnings, FromSoftware confirmed on July 30 that Nightreign’s next update, originally scheduled to go live on all platforms on the same day, has been pushed back to July 31.
“Due to the tsunami warning following the earthquake near the Kamchatka Peninsula, we have decided to postpone the distribution of the Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02,” the studio said on X/Twitter.
Nightreign Patch 1.02 details
In addition to beginning the next cycle of Everdark Soveriegn Expeditions, 1.02 is poised to introduce the most-requested feature since Nightreign’s launch back in May: duos.
On release, the multiplayer-focused Elden Ring spinoff received criticism for only providing two options for players – solos or trios. Until Patch 1.02 arrives on July 31, it’s currently impossible to queue into a session with a pair of Nightfarers. PC players have been able to do so with fan-made mods for some time, but console players have had no such luck.
Following confirmation of the delay, Patch 1.02 is now scheduled to go live on all platforms on July 31 at 10 am EST/1 pm PST/9 am BST. This will include the aforementioned duos mode, Everdark Sovereign Maris, Fathom of Night, and likely various balance adjustments.
