Dataminers have discovered an all-new, currently unreleased game mode for Elden Ring Nightreign in the game’s files.
Unlike existing Expeditions, where players survive in Limgrave for two days before facing off against a chosen final boss, “The Deep of Night,” as it’s named in the files, plays out differently.
As shared by Adminisitrator on Reddit, Deep of Night is a standalone Expedition that tasks Nightfarers with surviving for as long as possible and receiving a score based on their performance, gauged by what “Depth” they reach.
Competitive in nature, Adminisitrator claims that the mode will include skill-based matchmaking and incorporate ELO, although no examples of this were shown.
“Targets cannot be chosen, and difficulty increases with depth. Victory increases your rating, allowing you to proceed unto ever greater depths,” datamined text explains.
Deep Relics
Obviously, with new challenges come new rewards. Enter Deep Relics – distinct from standard Relics in that they provide more powerful buffs to your chosen Nightfarer, but with a downside to balance their strength.
One example, shown by Adminisitrator, provides three individual buffs, as a normal Relic would, with the caveat of “Continuous HP Loss.”
Three of these Relics will be equippable on existing Vessels alongside standard Relics in new, dedicated slots, but their effects will only be active during Deep of Night attempts.
As always, it’s worth pointing out that, as is the case with any datamined leaks, none of the above is guaranteed to see a live release, and certainly not as shown. FromSoftware may have made numerous changes to the feature ahead of any official release.
