Now that HBO is back in the name, the Max streaming service is calling "takesies backsies" on its family entertainment plans. At this stage, the strategy shift seems to mean removing a lot of childhood favorites, particularly those it had hosted through Cartoon Network, a channel also owned by Warner Bros. These removals are particularly heart-wrenching as Cartoon Network's own streaming site was shut down and redirected to HBO Max last August.
As someone who grew up watching plenty of these shows on cable, I personally didn’t realize how much I missed some of them until I found out I couldn’t watch them anymore. If you're anything like me and want to take a trip down memory lane, here's a breakdown of the Cartoon Network shows HBO Max has removed in the past year and how you can still watch them.
Every Cartoon Network Show Removed From HBO Max in the Past Year
Unfortunately, a decent chunk of the removed Cartoon Network library is no longer streaming on any service. The only way to watch these series online is by buying or renting individual episodes through marketplaces like Prime Video. As such, I've also listed out physical media alternatives where available, even for shows that are still streaming, because nowadays that's the only way to make sure you have your favorite show forever.
A couple of the more recent series are still available to stream on Hulu or Disney+. These services are functionally becoming the same thing starting next year, making their current bundle one of the best bets for cartoon streaming.
