LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was officially revealed at Gamescom 2025, bringing with it a ton of gameplay features and Easter eggs that fans will go mad for.
There’s an unmistakable charm to the LEGO games, and it seems like virtually no property is safe when it comes to being reimagined in bricks. One of the figures that’s received the LEGO treatment more than most is Batman, but we’re heading back to Gotham City.
During Gamescom Opening Night 2025, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight was unveiled for the first time, sending DC fans into a frenzy. So, here’s everything we know so far about the game.
There is currently no release date for Legacy of the Dark Night, but we know to will arrive sometime in 2026.
Platforms
When it finally launches, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC.
Trailer
There has only been one full trailer released so far, and that’s the reveal trailer shown at Gamescom. This gave fans their first look at some of the gameplay systems, characters, and nods to Batman’s history across all mediums.
Story
LEGO games aren’t exactly renowned for their story, but this one looks to be trying something new as far as Batman goes. As revealed during Xbox’s Gamescom showcase, fans will be getting the chance to play through most of Bruce Wayne’s life, from a wealthy child to an ageing superhero and everything in between.
Along the way, you’ll run into a variety of iconic characters, all taken from different points of Batman’s history. This includes multiple versions of The Joker, both Danny DeVito and Colin Farrell’s Penguin, and many, many more.
Gameplay
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set in an open-world version of Gotham City, allowing you to freely explore every knook and cranny, either on foot, soaring the sky, or, of course, driving a customizable Batmobile.
When it comes to combat, it looks to be drawing heavily from the Arkham series, as fights are a fluid mix of punches, kicks, and slick counters. We also know that the Caped Crusader will have a huge arsenal of gadgets to help him along the way, from Batarangs to explosive gel, which also come in handy for the many puzzles that need to be solved.
There will also be some stealth elements where you’ll be able to stalk goons from the shadows, as well as a series of Riddler challenges to tick off.
Cast
The full voice cast is yet to be revealed, but the one actor we know to be appearing is Matt Berry as Bane. Fans instantly recognized the What We Do in the Shadows actor’s voice in the initial reveal trailer, and it was soon confirmed that he is stepping into the legendary character’s shoes.
