Former Rockstar Games developer Mike York believes the Grand Theft Auto makers won’t be “greedy” with the GTA 6 price tag amid claims of it being $100.

Alongside the release date, which has been delayed again to November 19, 2026, the biggest point of conversation around Grand Theft Auto 6 has been its price point.

It’s long been claimed that Rockstar will charge $100 as a base price for the long-awaited game, which could prompt a bigger shift across the gaming landscape. “Everyone’s just waiting for GTA 6 to do it,” Michael Douse, the Director of Publishing for Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios, said back in August 2024.

Take-Two boss Struass Zelnick has been coy on the price, but suggested that fans get more value than they pay for anyway.

As we get closer to 2026, others have been chiming in too, including former Rockstar Games animator Mike York, who believes his former employer won’t be “greedy” with their pricing.

“I don’t think the price tag for GTA 6 will be $100. I think it will come out at $70, around the flatline of normal releases. I don’t think Rockstar Games feel they need to release it at a higher cost. They’ll sell so many copies of the game that they won’t need to be greedy and charge $100,” York told Esports Insider

“They don’t need to leave that sour taste in people’s mouths if they don’t have to, so I don’t think they’ll do that.

“They might have a $99 day-one version if you pre-order it where it gives you a huge bundle when GTA Online comes out, you have your own apartment or something like that – but the base game will be $70.”

York also told Esports Insider that he doesn’t believe there will be any further delays to GTA 6’s release date.

He stated that the developers will just be “polishing stuff” at this point in the development cycle.
