Fable 4 will reportedly not only be released on both Xbox and PlayStation, (marking the first time a series entry has appeared on a Sony console) but will arrive on the same day on both consoles.
While discussing Microsoft’s upcoming Developer Direct in the January 9 edition of its podcast, VGC’s Andy Robinson responded to a question about Microsoft’s wider multiplatform strategy.
That included talk regarding whether the upcoming fourth Fable and Forza Horizon 6 would see a simultaneous release on both consoles.
Asked by VGC’s Jordan Miller whether Fable could match Xbox’s launch day and date on PS5, Robinson replied: “Fable is day and date. That’s what I’ve been told,” before backtracking slightly. “I imagine it’s day and date,” he continued, cautioning that nothing was set in stone.
“This is where the insiders ‘misstep’, right? Those are the sorts of details that can be changed a week or a day before,” Robinson said. He then reiterated his expectation, adding: “Yes, it’s coming to PS5. I’d expect it to be day and date because I know [Microsoft] has been targeting PS5 for a while.”
In Forza Horizon 6‘s case, Robinson said the racing sequel wouldn’t be getting the same treatment. “The explanation I heard from someone who’s there is that it just wasn’t ready.”
Fable is currently in development at Playground Games and was announced as a reboot of the RPG series. While the game has been confirmed for Xbox platforms, Microsoft has not officially announced a PlayStation release or commented on launch timing across platforms.
