Fallout Season 2 Episode 7 ends with a surprising reveal that might confirm an ending to Fallout: New Vegas… Meaning major spoilers ahead!

The sophomore season’s seventh episode was packed with reveals as Prime Video barrels toward the season finale, with all the major players finally converging on New Vegas. Lucy (Ella Purnell) is determined to stop her father’s nefarious plot to turn the Wastelanders into mindless drones in the management Vault.

Meanwhile, the Ghoul (Walton Goggins), Maximus (Aaron Moten), and Thaddeus (Johnny Pemberton) try to get past the pack of Deathclaws in the Strip. But while Maximus is busy brawling with the Deathclaws in a set of NCR Power Armor, the Ghoul heads up to the Lucky 28 to a familiar location that New Vegas players will definitely recognize: Mr. House’s office.

It’s here that Fallout Season 2 appears to confirm which ending to New Vegas the Prime Video series is choosing to follow.

Mr. House is still alive in Fallout Season 2

In a move that will probably surprise no one (since a glimpse of the scene was in the trailer), it looks like Mr. House is still alive in Fallout Season 2. When the Ghoul switches on the Cold Fusion device, the iconic large screen shows a buffering percentage bar, and when it reaches 100%, the mustachioed billionaire returns in his computerized form, just like in the New Vegas game.

Of course, it is possible that it’s just a digital version of Mr. House and not his living consciousness. But until we get confirmation, it seems like he’s alive and still existing as a husk in his little cryo-pod underneath the Lucky 38 Casino. This means the Courier/the player did not kill Mr. House in the timeline that the show takes place in.

That’d suggest the Courier likely chose to push back Caesar’s Legion at the Battle of Hoover Dam, either siding with the NCR, Mr. House, or as their own independent agent of chaos. Because there are a handful of different endings, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly which one the show might follow, but Mr. House’s return likely rules out the ones where he dies.

The big question ahead of the finale is what will Mr. House do with the Wasteland now that he has the Cold Fusion device? Will he somehow defuse the civil war brewing in the Brotherhood of Steel? Will he use his missile defence system to eviscerate Caesar’s Legion once and for all? Anything is possible.

Todd Howard says Fallout Season 2 will “honor” all the New Vegas endings

The question over which New Vegas ending Fallout Season 2 has hung over the show ever since the cliffhanger of the first season. When speaking to Dexerto ahead of the new episodes, Bethesda director Todd Howard says it will “honor” all the conclusions to the game.

“We approached it like ‘Hey, we need to honor all of those endings’ and Graham and Geneva came up with some great ways to sort of do that and this idea of this fog of war in terms of what happened and what didn’t happen. So, we answer in places and each faction has a little bit of their own view, and sometimes we don’t answer.

“Sometimes it’s intentionally ambiguous because it’s really approached with great love and respect of that game. Let’s make sure we honor the journey that the player had because they could have done a lot of things. And that one [New Vegas] really does end with some big faction decisions.”
