YouTube community remembers tech creator Lamarr Wilson

Wilson had amassed a sizable online following over the years, first creating his YouTube channel in 2008. In the 17 years since then, the channel had amassed over 2 million subscribers who tuned in to watch his tech-focused gift guides, reviews, and commentary on various gadgets, video games, and more.

He also boasted an additional 1 million followers on TikTok, as well as over 239K on Instagram. Wilson had just celebrated his 48th birthday on October 22.

The LA-based content creator notably co-hosted an episode of Star Trek actor George Takei’s web show, ‘Takei’s Take,’ where they reviewed the Google Glass. The episode went on to win a Webby for online film and video in technology in 2014.

Wilson both hosted and produced two web series for Mashable, and was a regular contributor to the Daily Tech News Show podcast. He was a judge at CES and held the role of IT and Social Media Advisor for the International Association of Military Women of Color.

He was also known for his videos with prominent gaming YouTuber Dashie. The two would occasionally link up to play video games together, as seen in their joint Mario Kart World video published in July.

Wilson’s millions of fans are pouring in with heartfelt tributes to the late creator, thanking him for his humorous, entertaining videos and reminiscing on his energetic personality.

“Rest in peace man,” one wrote on Instagram. “You were always so energetic and entertaining.”

“RIP to a legend,” another said on TikTok. “I can’t believe this is real.”
