CD Projekt RED is reportedly gearing up for one final The Witcher 3 expansion, or perhaps even a standalone offering, venturing to a new territory to bridge the gap ahead of the new saga.
Over a decade on from The Witcher 3, it remains one of the very best open-world games of all time. Despite seemingly closing the chapter on Geralt’s tale, fans have been clamoring for more ever since, and if reports hold true, their wishes may be granted.
With The Witcher 4 in active development, the new entry set to kickstart a new saga with Ciri in the lead role, reports have indicated that one last bit of Witcher 3 content is still in the works.
We first caught wind of this prospect in June, 2024, when an insider claimed mod devs Fool’s Theory are working on a DLC for The Witcher 3. This continued in December, 2025, when a Noble Securities analyst forecast a spike in sales for the Polish game developer. This could have indicated anything from a new expansion to a standalone offering. But now, new reports are adding weight to the idea, even outing the likely setting.
New reports claim The Witcher 3’s final expansion will take us to Zerrikania
IGN Poland chimed in on the matter on January 5, 2026. “We have a confession to make. We’ve known about work on a potential new expansion for a very long time,” the report read.
Accordingly, they were informed of more content for the 2015 games “years ago,” but held off on reporting at the time as it came from a single source. Since then, however, they’ve continued to hear rumblings, with one detail in particular popping up regularly.
“There were many indications that the developers were keenly interested in exploring Zerrikania.”
Zerrikania is a land we’ve not yet seen in The Witcher games, but it’s one we hear about a great deal. Should we venture out East, we may encounter its vast deserts and drylands, not to mention cults worshipping dragons.
At the time of writing, CD Projekt RED has yet to comment on any plans for future Witcher content beyond The Witcher 4. However, if earlier reports hold true, we may not have to wait long to hear more, as the new content is allegedly targeting a 2026 release.
