The first post-launch Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 4 has been revealed as C4SH. From the release window to the first details on their kit, here’s what we know.
The launch of a new Borderlands title is typically just the beginning. More often than not, new Vault Hunters are added to the line up in the months that follow, and that’s the case once again here with Borderlands 4.
Mere weeks after the game’s release, we already have our first details on the next playable character joining Rafa, Vex, Amon, and Harlowe. C4SH was just unveiled at the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, with Randy Pitchford taking the stage to peel back the curtain.
While it’s early days yet, here’s the full rundown on C4SH to get you ahead of the curve.
When is C4SH releasing in Borderlands 4?
There’s currently no set date for the new Vault Hunter’s arrival, all we know is to expect them in the first quarter of 2026. This puts their debut anywhere between January 1, 2026 – March 31, 2026.
Given the character is already being showcased, however, mere weeks after the game’s release, it’s safe to assume a good amount of the work is already done. As such, we’d expect a launch earlier than later in that window.
Rest assured, we’ll keep you up to speed here as further details emerge.
Who is C4SH? New Vault Hunter background
C4SH is indeed a robot, one that was designed to be a dealer bot at a casino, presumably on Kairos. Breaking free from his designated role, he now tracks down “cursed eldritch artifacts,” as the official blog post revealed.
More of his backstory is set to be explored through the upcoming story expansion titled ‘Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned.’ So when going hands-on with C4SH for the first time, you’ll also be able to learn about the character’s journey thus far.
Borderlands 4 DLC Vault Hunter abilities: C4SH’s kit explained
At their core, C4SH’s kit has been designed around luck. Given their background as a dealer bot, their whole existence has revolved around chance, to some degree, and thus, they take that element into combat with them.
Their abilities and even some of their equipment all appear to revolved around chance, whether it’s in the form of playing cards or rolling dice. In fact, Pitchford even teased that his own throwing card demonstrations were used by animators for the new Vault Hunter.
The character’s Action Skills have been described as “distinctly unpredictable.” Some could benefit you yourself or have a chance of buffing your allies. If we’re to guess, others could help with small damage boost or insane damage boosts if you get lucky. It’s likely similar logic applies to all sorts of builds.
We’ll have to wait and see exactly how the specific abilities in their kit pan out, but it’s clear the potential is there for C4SH to dominate, you just need to have luck on your side.
