Blitz Royale was already a massive hit in Fortnite. Now it’s bringing the big guns: anime fights and fatalities.
Blitz Royale has rapidly become the most popular mode in Fortnite since its launch on June 18, 2025. It broke records with over 443,000 concurrent players, surpassing both Battle Royale and Zero Build.
The secret ingredient to this limited time mode is short, five-minute matches, no building, and a 32-player limit with an addictive progression system.
Blitz took over Fortnite entirely, but the sad truth was it would all come to an end on July 15, 2025. That is, until leakers uncovered a twist: the mode’s getting an extension and a wild all-star collab streak to go with it.
Leakers revealed Blitz Royale is being extended with three huge crossover events
According to reliable leakers Shiina and Hypex, Blitz Royale is getting a four-week extension starting soon. That alone would’ve been newsworthy.
But Epic’s apparently attaching a new collab to each of those four weeks: Dragon Ball, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Mortal Kombat. One after another. That’s a stacked lineup of heavy hitters with proven Fortnite popularity. Each franchise comes with its own themed cosmetics, loot, and mythics. If this leak holds up, we’re looking at a month-long crossover sprint.
All three franchises already made serious waves in past Fortnite updates. Dragon Ball gave players Goku, Vegeta, and the Kamehameha. Jujutsu Kaisen dropped Gojo, Itadori, and one of the best event questlines ever.
Mortal Kombat introduced Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and mythics like Sub-Zero’s Combat Kit. Blitz Royale is built for this kind of chaos. It’s all about fast matches, medallions that give powers, and boons that boost your stats. Add in legacy mythics and collab weapons, and you’ve got four weeks of pure mayhem.
Player reactions hit fast and loud. One said, “this will be the best collab!”. Another added, “four more weeks of chaos and I’m here for every second”. One more posted, such a “W beautiful work let’s go.” Everyone seems fully on board.
