Fortnite has just sued two map creators for using over 20,000 bots to fake engagement on their own islands, leading them to earn a higher payout.
Nowadays, Fortnite isn’t just known as the battle royale with building mechanics. Thanks to a ton of new modes and creator-made experiences, the game has evolved into a much more diverse platform.
For those who don’t know, outside of Battle Royale and Zero Build, players can create their own custom islands and even make real money for doing so through Epic’s Island Creator Program. The more engagement your island gets, the more you can earn.
But not everyone’s playing fair. Epic Games has filed a lawsuit against two particular island creators who allegedly tried to cheat the system by faking engagement.
Fortnite island creators sued for inflating their islands with over 20k bots
On October 7, 2025, Epic filed a lawsuit against Idris Nahdi and Ayob Nasser, accusing them of using more than 20,000 fake bot accounts to “simulate real human engagement” on their own maps. By doing this, they were able to rake in higher payouts that they apparently didn’t deserve.
According to the filing, the bots were programmed to interact with their islands through a cloud gaming service that allowed Fortnite to run remotely.
“Before they got caught, Defendants were paid tens of thousands of dollars in payments from Epic that would otherwise have been paid out to other developers who earned genuine engagement from real Fortnite players,” Epic stated in the filing.
After getting their December 2024 payouts, the pair allegedly went even further by making multiple Epic Games accounts to create more islands, further violating the program’s rules.
Once their EULAs were terminated, Epic noted that they must “delete all copies of Fortnite” in their possession, but they reportedly ignored that and kept playing.
On top of financial restitution, Epic is also pushing to permanently ban the two and “all others in active concert of participation” with them, including their heirs and successors, from creating Epic accounts or playing Fortnite ever again, among other penalties.
