Fortnite just pulled its pettiest move yet: trolling Doja Cat with a weapon she once called embarrassing.
Doja Cat wasn’t a random celebrity skin. She was part of the Fortnite crowd, she streamed matches, and once even unfriended her ex live.
You might also recall her rants about sweaty players and broken weapons. In one viral, now deleted X post from May 2024, she said Fortnite wouldn’t be so “f*cking embarrassing” without weapons like Chains of Hades.
Then came Fortnitemares 2025, with Doja Cat as both headliner and boss. Wednesday Addams and Scooby Doo might have been in the same update, but Doja stole the spotlight even before the punchline hit.
Fortnite gives Doja Cat the one thing she didn’t want
Alongside her new cosmetics, Fortnite added a weapon modeled after the one she publicly despised.
The Chains of Hades came back as Thorn Ripper, a Doja-themed rework of the infamous hookshot-whip that dominated matches last year.
On October 8, a day before her bundle dropped, Doja took over the official Fortnite X account and joked: “DONT TALK TO ME ABOUT CHAINS OF HADES,” before tagging streamers @moistcr1tikal and @WhoDontai to play duos.
The full Doja Cat bundle costs 3,200 V-Bucks, including both Doja skins, the Claw Swords, Agora Hills and Woman emotes, Agora and Scarlet Wings back blings, the Mother’s Mic pickaxe, and even her “AAAH MEN!” track.
Doja hasn’t commented on Fortnite’s reskin version of the Chains of Hades yet, but she did post she’ll be “playing Fortnite all day tomorrow,” so you might catch her live on Twitch at dojacattington.
Fortnitemares 2025 still offers more to grind for, including the free Pig skin unlockable through limited-time quests and exclusive Twitch Drops.
But the standout moment is definitely Fortnite handing Doja Cat the weapon she swore she’d never touch.
