Every year, Fortnite holds a special festive event over the holidays, and leaks have already begun revealing what to expect in Winterfest 2025.
If it’s not the constant crossovers that keep players coming back to Fortnite over and over again, chances are it’s probably the themed events. Epic Games likes to give the game a makeover to coincide with the latest holiday, with the Fortnitemares Halloween event always generating plenty of buzz.
But the Winterfest Christmas event is arguably the biggest of them all, celebrating the festive period by showering players with free presents and jolly content.
As expected, it’s set to return once again this year, so here’s everything we know about Fortnite Winterfest 2025 so far.
When is Fortnite Winterfest 2025?
There is currently no official start date for Winterfest 2025, but based on previous years, it could be anywhere from December 13 to December 20.
The content is expected to be added to the files with the v39.10 update on December 11. After this patch is live, leakers will have a much better idea of when the event will get underway, as well as what’s included.
Winter Hatsune Miku skin leaked
According to dataminers, this year’s Winterfest will feature a festive skin for virtual pop star Hatsune Miku. The Japanese sensation was finally added to Fortnite at the start of 2025 in a hugely successful collaboration, and she’s returning once again this Christmas.
It’s not clear at the moment if this skin will be available from the in-game store or if she will be one of the event’s traditional free rewards. But if you’re a Miku fan who’s been desperate for more, you don’t have too much longer to wait.
Harry Potter crossover leaked
Of all the franchises that have appeared in Fortnite over the years, Harry Potter is arguably the biggest omission. But that wrong is set to be righted in 2025, as more leaks have revealed that a crossover is on the cards during Winterfest.
According to ‘HYPEX,’ the collaboration will include a Broom Mythic, which likely lets players fly around the map, as well as skins. They didn’t explain which characters would appear, but it’s safe to say that Harry himself and the likes of Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley will be the focus.
It also remains to be seen if they’re based on the book version of the characters, the film franchise starring Daniel Radcliffe, or the upcoming HBO series expected in 2027.
Will there be a cabin in Winterfest 2025?
It hasn’t been confirmed if there will be a cabin this year, but it’s expected to return to let players log in and open their daily gifts. Winterfest 2023 dropped the feature, much to the disappointment of fans, instead giving everyone a reward when they first log in.
But last year, the devs decided to bring it back, and you could once again enter the cabin and pick your own gifts, including a free Snoop Dogg skin.
Expected map changes
One of the most exciting parts of the event is the festive makeover the island usually gets, and we expect 2025 to be no different. As always, the map will likely be almost, if not entirely, covered in snow, giving it a distinctly wintery look.
You can also expect to see decorations scattered around the map, such as Christmas trees and fairy lights, brightening up each location.
